C-Card scheme
What is the C-Card scheme?
The C-Card scheme is a condom distribution service that gives young people quick and easy access to free condoms.
It is a confidential service which also offers information and advice about relationships, sex and sexual health, helping you to make informed choices.
It's available to anyone aged 13 to 24, whether you are having sex, thinking about having sex or are just curious about condoms.
Once you have a C-Card, you can show your card at any C-Card outlet to access free condoms and lube, making it simple to plan and stay protected.
- Tip: Keep some condoms in places you might need them (e.g. a bag or drawer) so you are always prepared!
How can I get a C-Card?
It's easy and free to join the C-Card Scheme, so you can take a positive step towards looking after your sexual health. You can get a C-Card (join the scheme) at any C-Card outlet.
• Aged 16 to 24 - visit a C-Card outlet. It's quick, and you will be guided through the process, so you know exactly what to expect.
• Aged 13 to 15 - you’ll have a short private chat with a practitioner who will support you in making safe, informed choices. You’ll also get a demonstration of how to use a condom correctly, helping you feel confident using them in the future.
You’ll find C-Card outlets at many youth and community organisations, pharmacies and GP practices, so you can choose one that feels convenient and comfortable for you.
- Tip: Plan your first visit by choosing a nearby outlet and a time that works for you.
What condoms can I have?
You will be given a starter pack when you get your C-Card, which contains some regular, smaller and larger condoms and lube.
The pack also includes clear instructions so you (and your partner) can check which size condom is right for you and how to use a condom correctly, helping you feel confident and prepared.
If you want more free condoms and lube, simply show your C-Card at any C-Card outlet - making it easy to keep a supply ready when you need it.
Just ask for what you need. Each pack contains 6 items:
• regular condoms
• smaller condoms
• larger condoms
• latex-free regular condoms (for anyone with a latex allergy only)
• lube (water-based).
Where to find a C-Card Outlet locally
Many youth organisations, pharmacies and GP practices are part of the C-Card scheme.
How can I get another C-Card?
If you have lost or misplaced your C-Card, don't worry! You can easily get another one at any C-Card outlet.
Why use condoms?
