NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service
Supply of oral contraception and emergency hormonal contraception ('morning after pill')
Many community pharmacies now give you the option of being able to have a confidential consultation with a community pharmacist to request a supply of the oral contraceptive pill or emergency oral contraception ('morning after pill').
This is instead of needing to visit your GP or sexual health clinic. You do not need a prescription, and the supply will be free of charge. If the pharmacist gives you the contraceptive pill or 'morning after pill', they will only share this information with your GP if you give permission for them to do so.
To access this service, you can self-refer to a participating pharmacy. You do not need to be registered with a GP. Not all pharmacies provide this service at present, so it is best to contact the pharmacy before visiting.

Find a pharmacy that offers emergency hormonal contraception ('morning after pill')
If the best method of contraception or emergency contraception for you is not available from a community pharmacy, you will be referred to the most appropriate service to obtain it; this could be your GP practice or local sexual health clinic.
