JCVI advises on gonorrhoea and mpox vaccinations

by Portia Jackson | Nov 13, 2023

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), which advises the UK government on vaccination and immunisation matters, has advised that routine targeted vaccination programmes for the prevention of gonorrhoea and mpox should be offered on an opportunistic basis through specialist sexual health services.

The advice issued by the JCVI will now be considered by the Department of Health and Social Care before any policy decisions are made on the introduction of any new routine immunisation programmes. Should the advice be accepted at some point in the future, detail of how the vaccine will be delivered will follow.
